Mike Fell – Mediums: Pottery, Sculpting, Metal and Silversmith

A former educator and one of the Founding Members of The Gallery 1001, Mike passionately shares his creative visions through his colorful pottery and sculptures crafted from a diverse array of materials, including clay, stone, and found objects. Drawing inspiration from nature and his rich experiences in teaching, he infuses each piece with vibrant hues and intricate designs that reflect his artistic journey. His commitment to sustainability is evident in his choice of materials, as he often incorporates reclaimed items, breathing new life into discarded treasures. Through his artwork, Mike invites viewers to appreciate the beauty in imperfection and the stories that each piece holds, creating a deeper connection between the art and its audience.

Caroline “Callie” Seaton – Medium: Painting

Another of our founding members, Callie is considered the Grand Dame of The Gallery 1001. Her expressionist “Color Field” works show Callie’s nod to artists such as Gerhard Richter and Mark Rothko, both of whom have significantly influenced her creative journey and artistic philosophy. Often working with only primary colors, Callie’s methods pull and blend these hues meticulously to create stunning, vibrant works of art that captivate the viewer’s eye. Each canvas tells its own story, inviting interpretation and emotional connection, as the interplay of colors evokes a sense of depth and movement. Through her innovative approach, Callie redefines boundaries in modern art, bridging the gap between traditional techniques and contemporary sensibilities, ensuring her place as a pivotal figure in the art community.

William “Bill” McReynolds – Mediums: Pottery, Sculpture and Painting

Bill is a former educator who’s award-winning art is captivating, drawing viewers into a world of vibrant colors and intricate forms. As an abstract expressionist artist, Bill is a powerhouse of energy and creativity that is evidenced by his art, which often reflects his deep emotions and thoughts, resonating with audiences on multiple levels. His technique is not confined to one style; rather, it evolves continuously as he seeks to push boundaries and explore new possibilities. Bill’s ability to experiment with varied types of clay, firing techniques, and glazes continues to amaze and impress all who view it, inviting them to experience the textures and nuances that his pieces encapsulate. Each of his creations tells a unique story, inviting viewers to interpret and engage with the art in personal, meaningful ways.

Cathlin McReynolds – Mediums: Painting, Photography, Block Printing, Bookbinding, creating sculptures from yarn and spinning her own yarn

If you have ever heard that old expression about, “The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree,” you have Cathlin. Like her father, Cathlin too is a force to be reckoned with in the world of arts and crafts. From her intricate Barn Quilt paintings, which reflect her keen eye for detail and color, to her stunning block prints that encapsulate the essence of nature, each piece she creates tells a story that resonates deeply with viewers. Additionally, her skill in bookbinding showcases her meticulous craftsmanship, turning simple pages into works of art that are both functional and beautiful. Not to mention her captivating photography, which captures fleeting moments in life with a unique perspective, making it clear that Cathlin’s creative talents are not only diverse but also profoundly impactful. Her dedication to her art can be seen in every brush stroke and photograph, echoing the legacy of creativity instilled in her by her father.

Martha Brohammer – Mediums: Painting – Illustrator – Jeweler

Martha is an art instructor as well as a contemporary revisionist artist, passionately dedicated to inspiring her students through innovative techniques and creative expression. Her beautiful and intricate paintings often include hidden features that invite viewers to explore deeper meanings and stories within each piece. She is also an accomplished illustrator whose works have been featured in numerous books and novels, capturing the imagination of readers across various genres. Always creating, Martha knits beautiful hats and scarves for those cold Kansas winters, infusing each piece with vibrant colors and patterns that reflect her artistic flair. As a jeweler, Martha’s creations are nothing short of incredible; she skillfully combines various materials and techniques to craft unique pieces that stand out. Often using recycled materials such as soda cans, her works are always unique, creative, and popular with our patrons, showcasing her commitment to sustainability while captivating art enthusiasts.

Mariha (aka Shadow Weaver): Mediums -Painting

As The Gallery 1001’s newest member artist, Mariha has shown herself to be an incredible abstract expressionist artist. Her works are deeply personal and emotional, drawing the viewer in with their vibrant energy and thought-provoking themes. Each piece tells a unique story, exploring complex emotions and experiences, which invites the audience to engage on a profound level. Mariha uses a number of items in her works not usually associated with art, such as fabric remnants, found objects, and unconventional materials, which provide the viewer with an interesting and tactile image that challenges the traditional boundaries of artistic expression. By incorporating these elements, she not only enriches the visual complexity of her art but also allows for a multidimensional experience that resonates with a diverse audience, encouraging them to reflect on their own emotions and interpretations.

Peggy Williams – Thomas: Mediums -Painting

A former art instructor, Peggy provides the gallery with lavish, colorful paintings of landscapes, florals, and more, showcasing her incredible range and talent as an artist. From breathtaking mountain views that capture the majesty of nature to lush forests and vibrant gardens that draw the eye with their rich hues, each piece tells a story that invites viewers to step into her world. Her work not only reflects her passion for the outdoors but also her keen ability to evoke emotions through color and movement, making every visit to the gallery an inspiring experience for art lovers and casual visitors alike.

Bubba VonMax: Mediums – Painting

Bubba VonMax is the pseudonym used by Max Kidwell. Max brings his unique perspective of abstract art to the gallery, where he challenges conventional norms of creativity. As a youth, Max was deeply impressed with the art and pinstriping by Kenny Howard (aka Von Dutch), whose bold designs and intricate patterns influenced his artistic journey. Tired of painting straight lines and letters, Max started doodling, allowing his imagination to flow freely onto the canvas. You can see his “doodle style” in many of his works, some, A dedicated fan of Marcel Duchamp and Dadaism, Max often uses found objects in innovative ways to create pieces that reflect his belief in the beauty of the unconventional. So, whether it’s a painting, a playful drawing, or a sugar skull made from unexpected materials, VonMax is always on the lookout for the unique and different, striving to capture the unpredictability of life and art in every creation. His work invites viewers to explore the boundaries of artistic expression and to find meaning in the unexpected, making each piece a personal journey into his eclectic world of creativity.

Mike Ciskowski: Medium – Photography

Former Postmaster Mike Ciskowski is known for his incredibly keen eye, which captures the inherent beauty of the state of Kansas in a way that resonates deeply with viewers. His photographs are not just images; they are vivid representations of the diverse landscapes and historical treasures found throughout the region. From vintage clocks that tell stories of yesteryear to expansive fields of sunflowers swaying in the breeze, and from the charm of old stone bridges arching gracefully over tranquil streams to the nostalgia evoked by old locomotives and the rustic elegance of an aging mill, each composition reflects Mike’s profound appreciation for the world around him. His ability to frame each setting is a testament to his unique understanding of both art and photography, showcasing not only his technical skills but also his artistic vision, inviting viewers to see Kansas through his perspective, where every photograph becomes a narrative waiting to be explored.
